Legionella for the Responsible Person
The Legionella for the responsible person course is designed for people who have been appointed to manage control measures and activities carried out by in house staff or contractors to manage the risk from legionella. Training is required to a standard which ensures that tasks are carried out in a technically competent manner.
Organisations which may need to use this training are: local authorities, universities, schools; care homes, nursing homes, hospitals, military installations, managing agents.

- Understanding ACoP L8 The control of legionella bacteria in water systems
- The impact of failing to conform
- Assessment of systems at risk Domestic (Hot and Cold) water systems
- Cooling towers and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment
- Other water systems (showers, spas, Jacuzzi’s, fountains, humidifiers)
- Planning for and conducting risk assessments
- Choosing a method for the risk assessments e.g. BSRIA system
- Designing and implementing the written scheme
- Record keeping, monitoring and management of the systems, after the risk assessment
- Management and control of contractors
- Legionella risk assessment practical exercise
